Cameron Highlands Day 1

This years Diwali was spent in Cameron Highlands cos I've never been to CH before, despite being in Msia for 21 years.
Yes I live under a rock.

So anyways, I'll jump straight to the deets so that anyone planning to go here can use this as some sort of guide? haha

We left KL at about 10.30am and we reached Ringlet (which is a town on the way up to Tanah Rata) at about 1.30pm.
Oh and our mode of transport was by car :)
Steep hills and windy roads, so driving is abit tough but I don't think I'd want to go by bus (I have terrible motion sickness)
There was moderate traffic uphill (it only got bad after Ringlet)

So our first stop (bcause of my motion sickness)(yes i got dizzy and pale even in the car :/) was Cameron Valley Tea House 1

They had a cafe here with overpriced food and flies everywhere!
The only plus point was the view (which i didn't get much pictures of cos i was having a pretty bad case of motion sickness ><)

You have to pay RM3 to walk down into the tea plantations and there was like a food truck and a mini waterfall at the bottom. You could also pay extra for a tram, which we didn't take so I don't know how much that is.

The hike down isn't so bad (we actually didn't go all the way till the waterfall, as we only needed a few pictures among the tea leaves and also just to get some fresh air to help calm my motion sickness)

We spent about an hour here, probably could be longer if you went all the way down, but we had to check in to our hotel at 3pm, so we decided to leave.

The road up was filled with traffic (cos of public holidays, so we were kinda expecting it)

We stayed at Avillion Cameron Highlands for 1 night.
Okay so many things to say about this place .
Rooms were good and new, but cleanliness could be improved.
Location was good, nearby restaurants and convenience stores, plus there was free parking.

Check-in was smooth and on time & they'll collect a RM100 deposit which they return to you once you check out.
After checking in and freshening up, we headed up to Big Red Strawberry Farm, which was less than 10km away, but took us an hour plus to get there because of the traffic!
The roads going to this place were super windy and steep, so do drive carefully.

As with all the strawberry farms on cameron, this one allows you to pick your own for RM25/kg too.

Other than strawberries, there are some other vegetables grown here as well as beautiful colourful flowers.
There's also a cafe which serves all kinds of strawberry dishes.
Strawberry sundae = RM 8.90
Strawberries with whipped cream = RM6.90
Scones & tea = RM10.90

Strawberry Sundae
We spent about an hour here, mainly cos of the cue at the restaurant (we spent only about 15-20 mins looking around, the place really isn't that big)

It was already almost 6 by the time we were done here and so we couldn't go to BOH tea plantations :(
Boh plantations are closed on mondays, hence why we later on realised we should have gone there instead of the strawberry farm on sunday.

Not being able to go to BOH, we opted for the famous pasar malam near Golden Hills, where we spent a good hour buying food, souvenirs and just looking around.
Strawberries and souvenirs here are cheaper than most places.

We ended day 1 with dinner at Singh Chapati,
which is literally 20 steps away from our hotel.
Food was good, super rich and hearty Punjabi meals, abit on the pricey side but their portions are super filling!
We didn't manage to finish anything we ordered, sadly.
We ordered 2 cheese chapatis, one potato chapati, one paneer butter dish, one mutton dish and drinks. (our bill came up to RM 63)

Thats all for our Day 1 in CH, stay tuned for Day 2 once i get the motivation to type it all out (lets hope this doesn't get delayed for 2 years like my bali post)
